Tim Kearin has been in the health and fitness industry for more than forty years. His interest in strength training helped him become a standout high school athlete and took him to the University of Arizona on an athletic scholarship. After graduation, Tim began a career as an army officer, where his fitness expertise led to a graduate degree from Indiana University and a subsequent assignment to the physical education department at the United States Military Academy. Army’s new football coach at the time, NFL coaching legend Lou Saban, recognized Tim’s talents and made him the team’s strength and conditioning coach, a position Tim held for six years. In 1984, Tim expanded his fitness résumé by becoming the fitness director at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. In 1986, Tim and his wife Sharon moved to San Diego, California, and founded Personally Fit, Inc., a health and fitness company focused on adult fitness, specialized personal training, and physical therapy. After twenty years, Tim sold the business to pursue other specialized interests, including the work he did with Ken Blanchard that became the basis for their book "Fit at Last." Tim and Sharon, a dancer and fitness practitioner, have been married thirty-six years and live in San Diego. Their son Deyl and daughter Kasey live in Santa Barbara with their families and are fitness enthusiasts as well.
