We all have a natural emotional healing process, just as we do a natural physical healing process within us. When we get a wound, our body's natural healing process takes care of it. When emotionally painful events occur in our lives, we usually manage to overcome them and move on with our lives. On the other hand, a cut does not always heal until it has been cleaned and an antibiotic has been applied. Similarly, when something emotionally upsetting occurs, the brain's processing system isn't always able to absorb it and put it into the context of our entire lives without assistance. Sometimes we are completely unaware of what is going on.
Although the image of the incident may not come to us consciously, we may feel unworthy, sad, afraid, or nauseous. We may be unaware that we are being swamped with dysfunctionally stored material from the past. We may act in ways we later regret and not wholly comprehend why. The EMDR method recognizes that you aren't reacting on purpose; the triggered memories are at the root of your actions that aren't consistent with who you are now. EMDR can assist the brain's processing system repair emotional wounds in the same way that an antibiotic ointment can help cure a cut. It's still your own internal process conducting the healing; EMDR simply "jump starts" it when it's needed and speeds it up.
Once the isolated "land mine" of trauma has been reprocessed using EMDR, it is neutralized, meaning it will no longer go off and flood into the present. It's woven into the fabric of your existence, so it appears to be over and cannot derail you from your current state of bliss.
The information appears to be stimulated, and the brain can reprocess the situation due to eye movements or other bilateral stimulation. Eye movements are only a tiny part of EMDR. In processing traumatic memories, current concerns, or future fears, it integrates imagery, beliefs, emotions, and physical sensations.

This audio-book is very important !
I have been so excited since I began this book. An excellent solution when paired with qualified counselor to end those unfinished issues. I found this book to be extraordinary, insightful, the author has truly taped into a hidden part of the mind to reveal issues that haunt us from the past sometimes with out our realizing it.

Great audiobook for everyone!
Here I have got the ideas about how vagus nerve work and how it can be kept inactive. This vagus nerve plays an important role in our nerve system. So this audio book is highly suggested.

Really a great book
I found this book on the recommendation of my EMDR therapist, and it's one of the best investments I've made. It explained the EMDR process clearly, gave multiple examples, and helped me realize I wasn't alone in the way I think and feel.

Easy to understand and well detailed
Understanding where triggers come from is half the battle. Learning how to conquer them is the best. This book gives such detailed and easy to understand explanations of traumatic events. I highly recommend.

Overall great book and great content
As a therapist, I am using this for the coping skills and as a source of encouragement for my clients. I haven't been trained in EMDR but these are simple techniques I can help my patients learn. Really value this book.

Narrator needs to know how to read fluently
I'm an EMDR trained therapist, but I have no idea of the quality of this book because of the narration. It was clear that the narrator knows nothing about the topic. That wouldn't be a problem if the narrator used punctuation for its intended purpose and knew the words she was reading. The way the book is read, the sentences often don't make sense. In addition, words are mispronounced and mistaken in ways that matter.
If I was Jim Colajuta I would be very, very upset.

Awful narration
I got nothing out of this as the narration was awful, choppy, the fluctuations in the readers voice about drove me batty and allowed zero concentration on the information. I tried over and over to listen and well, I just can’t!
